Elected representatives of neighborhood taken into custody before referendum

ŞIRNAK –  Over 40 people included eight mukhtar (official/elected neighborhood representative) were taken into custody by police raids in Şırnak.

Special police forces raided numbers houses at the same time in Şırnak at early morning hours. After the searching houses over 40 people included eight mukhtar were taken into custody.

Also two people were taken into custody in Şırnak in police raids in Cizre. Detained people were sent to police headquarter of Cizre.

 Meanwhile vice co-mayor of Cizre Metin Bayık was released after he was jailed on charge of  “being member of illegal organization” on 17 February 2017.
