Hunger strike on it 48th days : Prisoners and family battered by guards

İZMİR –Prisoners in hunger strike and families were exposed to assault  during open visit in Şakran Prison where hunger strike is continuing since 48 days.


A prisoner family Cihan Önen “ Despite visitation should have been taken 50 minutes, it took five minutes and guards began to battered the prisoners. They dragged prisoner away from visit space. During the assault prisoners chanted ‘Humanity will beat the tortures’ and family cheered the prisoner to the  echo. Then tens of gendarme came in the room and began to batter families of prisoners. They specially attacked to old and ill people. Numbers people were wounded” said.
Önen also said attacks continued outside.


Another prisoner relative Yakup Ortamur “ Around 50 guards were walking among us and prisoners during visitation and trying to abuse the family. When prisoners react to guards they started to batter prisoner. We are concerning about prisoners life after attacking” said.


Ortamur also mentioned prisoner in hunger strike weren’t seen good because of ongoing hunger strike.


Relative of a prisoner Hüseyin Şahin “ Our children so to speak have been melted. They like rawboned. I never seen such a thing before that guards are walking among us during visitation. They say ‘ we are doing for security’. What security? They battered our children in front of our eyes” said
