Families on hunger strike :  There is no path except to resist

DİYARBAKIR – Families of prisoners on indefinite hunger strike without rotation began hunger strike after 56th days of hunger strike by saying “We don’t have any path except to resist.”

 

Familes of prisoners on indefinite hunger strike without rotation began hunger strike while hunger strike on its 56th days. Families demand is to being accepted their children’s demands. They mentioned their children requests is legal and they are standing with them until requests to be accepted.

 

Güler Yüksekbağ who began hunger strike for solidarity with prisoners is wife of Rakip Yüksekbağ whose on hunger strike since 56 days and imprisoned since 24 years. Güler Yüksekbağ evaluates 24 years as lifetime. “Prisons’ conditions in Turkey never changed in 24 years of my witness. Therefore once again prisoners are resisting against unlawful and honourless treatments. We have been standing with our relatives in prison since 24 years when prisoners began to resist against unlawful treatments. Today we are doing same. Their requests are ours. Hunger strike is continuing since 56 days in Şakran Prison. How can we stay silence? Requesting to remove isolation and lock down over PKK (Kurdistan Worker Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan and stop oppressions over prisoners are the most natural requests. We once again call out to president Erdoğan : “ You can’t have result by tyranny over prisons. If it needs we will begin to indefinite hunger strike for our children and for sure we will be the one who wins” said.

‘We will not stay silence to what is happening’

 

Makbule Kaya (54) is mother of Nejdet Kaya (32) whose on hunger strike since 56 days in Şakran Prison. “ My body is not more worthwhile than my son’s. Our children are resisting against dishonorable and oppressions as he did before many times in his life.  They force to search naked our son’s body and torture them. Of course we don’t accept this. There is no any path except to resist” said Kaya.




Behiye Duran (55) is mother of two prisoners who one of them named Murat Duran is  on hunger strike since over 50 days in Muş prison. “ Think! A human laying his body against injustice. The ones who fears are not our sons but who forces to this treatments. My son stand against injustice every time since 21 years in prison” said Duran.
