Human Rights Association's rights violation report : The worst year in Turkey History 2017-04-14 16:33:11 ANKARA – Human Rights Association (İHD) announced rights violation of 2016 in Turkey. İHD also qualified 2016 as the worst year of Turkey’s history. According to report 594 people were executed without due process, one thousand 671 people included 629 soldier,police and rural guards, one thousand three member of the organization and 39 civilian lost their life in 2016. İHD Central Executive Committee member Hüsnü Ündül stated that record of rights violation in Turkey was broke in 2016. İHD headquarter announced its report of 2016 titled “Rights violations in Turkey on 2016 : De facto authoritarian presidency period”. “Year of 2016 was the worst year after EU membership process began since 1999” mentioned in the report. According to report; * 594 people lost their life by state forces without due process. *629 soldier,police and rural forces lost their life during conflict *1003 organization’s member and 39 civilian lost their life during conflicts. * 21 people included 14 children lost their life because of mine and bomb explosions. *10 people lost their life because of ‘hate homocide’. * 394 women were killed by men. * 21 children committed suicide and 60 children were killed by violence. * Five thousand 606 people included 284 children were exposed to torture. * 830 people included 14 children were exposed to torture during detention period. * One thousand 348 prisoners were exposed to torture in prisons. * Two thousand 581 people included 219 children were exposed to violence during public demonstration. * Curfew was continued during all periods of 2016. According to THİV ( Human Rights Foundation of Turkey) report, curfew was declared 100 time in Diyarbakır, 23 times in Mardin, 19 times in Hakkari, 13 times in Şırnak, four times in Bitlis, three times in Batman, two times in Muş, two times in Bingöl, two times in Tunceli and one time in Elazığ. In total 169 times curfew was declared in 10 different cities and at least in 39 different counties. * Also at least one million 900 thousand people were exposed to rights violations such as rights to life, medical rights. *At least half million people were forced to migrate from their homeland during curfew. *361 women were killed by social and domestic violence and also 33 women committed suicide from same reasons. * Also 763 women could survive from social and domestic violence. * 13 thousand 957 people included 504 children were taken into custody and three thousand 336 people included 133 children were jailed. * One Kurdish citizen was killed by burning his friends. * 48 Kurdish students , 15 Kurdish workers, three Kurdish citizen and 10 Alevi citizen were exposed to racist assaults. * 157 journalist are imprisoned in Turkey. * 23 soldiers and police were derailed in Turkey but mostly in Kurdish cities. * 86 activities were banned on 2016. * 26 media outlets were raided, 192 media outlets were banned and two thousand 17 media outlet were closed on 2016. *One thousand 570 unions, foundations and associations were closed on 2016. * 100 thousand 797 people were dismissed from their job between 21 July 2016 and 23 February 2017 and investigation was launched towards 16 thousand 475 members of trade unions. * 119 students were suspended from the school because they attended to some events and also 300 thousand students’ education rights were violated due to declared curfew. * At least 35 prisoners lost their life because of committing suicide, accident, torture, sickness and fighting between prisoners on 2016. * At least there are 926 sick prisoners included 331 heavy sick in prisons of Turkey.
