Kurdish cities celebrate May 1 2017-05-01 17:47:41 NEWS BUREAU – Kurdish cities celebrated May 1 under state of Emergency with hundred thousand people. DİYARBAKIR May 1 was celebrated led by DİSK ( Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey), KESK ( Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions), TTB ( Turkish Medical Association) and TMMOB ( Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects) in 5 Haziran Meydanı ( June 5 Square) in Diyarbakır. Police took security measure during the celebration. It was reported crowd frequently chanted “ Free labor, free society”, “ No! It didn’t finish yet, continue to struggle”, “Victory will be the resistant workers” in Turkish and Kurdish during the celebration. It was also reported DBP (Democratic Regions Party) vice co-chair Gülcihan Şimşej, HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) lawmaker of Diyarbakır Feleknas Uca and number representatives of parties and unions attended the celebration in Diyarbakır with tens thousand people. HDP lawmaker Uca spoke in the celebration of Diyarbakır. Uca began her speech by commemorate of mine workers of Şirvan and Soma who lost their life during working. Uca also remarked child and women workers’ condition in Turkey. BATMAN May 1 Celebration was conducted in front of Batman May 16 Stadium. Number representatives of parties and unions included KESK co-chair Şaziye Köse, HDP lawmakers Ahmet Yıldırım, Saadet Becerikli and Ayşe Acar Başaran attended the celebration. It was reported crowd chanted “ Long live May 1” in Kurdish and Turkish. DERSİM Thousands people attended the celebration of May 1 in front of Seyid Rıza Square in Dersim. It was also reported that numbers of politic and unions group included HDP lawmaker of Dersim Alican Ünlü attended the celebration by cortege. SİİRT May 1 was celebrated by press statement in front of Kızılay trade center in Siirt. Numbers citizens included representatives of parties, association and trade unions attended the press statement. MARDİN Labor unions, politic parties’ executives included HDP lawmaker of Diyarbakır İmam Taşçıer and Mardin co-mayor Ahmet Türk celebrated May 1 with people of Mardin. People gathered in front of KESK building and chanted “ We defend peace against war”, “We will win by resisting” during the celebration. It was also reported gathered people reacted the police when they wanted to seize the picture of Aziz Yural who were killed in Nusaybin during the curfew. After Ahmet Türk and Taşçıer’s speeches the celebration ended. VAN Labor organization conducted May 1 celebration in Musa Anter Peace Park of Van. Numbers representatives of parties, associations and trade unions included HDP lawmakers Lezgin Botan, Adem Geveri, Nadir Yıldırım attended the celebration as well. After representatives’ speeches group danced the halay with Mem Ararat’s songs. HAKKARİ People celebrated May 1 in Hakkari by press statement into the building of KESK because of governorship banned public demonstration by decree. KESK spokesperson Musa Bor “ AKP’s (Justice and Development Party) coup was institutionalized by referendum. Modern slavery is continued by state of Emergence and its decrees” said in the press statement. KARS May 1 was celebrated in Cumhhuriyet Caddedi ( Republic Street) of Kars with thousand people. It was reported numbers of representatives of parties, associations and trade unions attended the celebration. It was also reported that HDP lawmaker of Iğdır Mehmet Emin Adıyaman attended the May 1 Celebration of Kars and called all workers for solidarity for their rights. URFA May 1 was celebrated in Newroz area of Urfa with thousand people. Numbers of representatives of parties, associations and trade unions included CHP ( Republic People Party) and HDP attended the celebration. HDP lawmaker of Urfa Dilek Öcalan spoke on behalf of HDP in the celebration. Öcalan “ The ones who said ‘No’ to constitutional amendment referendum are celebration May 1 by saying ‘No, it didn’t finish yet’. I celebrate to international workers day by remembering workers of Soma and Şirvan who lost their life during working” said. After the speeches of representatives, event continued by Koma Gulén Xerza’s songs. ADIYAMAN Workers and citizen in Adıyaman walked together to Mustafa Yücel Özbilgin Park. After the marching to the park, numbers of representatives of parties, associations and trade unions included HDP lawmaker Behçet Yıldırım attended to the group for celebration.
