Prof. Dr. Ulaş Bayraktar from Mersin University grab attention of public opinion and win general approval. “ I am ,as a child of martyr, side of the peace” speech had gain traction when Bayraktar who lost his soldier father on 1980 during conflict with PKK (Kurdistan Worker Party) signed to peace declaration. After Bayraktar was discharged by decree he had stated “ You will not gain my hate”. After couple weeks passed over Bayraktar’s discharged, he spoke to dihaber. “ In fact It had been long time that I didn’t sign for any declaration. But as you remember, those time were very helpless period. People had to live their grand fathers and mothers body on the street for days because of curfew and keep their children’s bodies in the deep freeze for days. All these things brings a strange feeling of insurrection” said Bayraktar. Bayraktar says he signed the declaration without hesitation because such as these texts are written collectively. “ We wanted the peace but we couldn’t see it was growing. We had no idea what would be in the future to us. I can’t say I wouldn’t sign if I knew these all things will happen to us. One of the basic components in my life is loosing my father when I was five-year-old and the problem caused my father’s death is still continuing. This is not a thing I remember sometimes. Every martyr’s funeral I live the same thing again and again. But if this problem is continuing since 40 years, then either my father’s death was nonsense or these policies over this problem are irrelevant. Because this problem should have been resolved until now” says Bayraktar. Bayraktar mentions he never speaks about his father’s death for his personal benefit. “ I am not a person who often mentions his father’s death. There are many people who doesn’t know about my father. I don’t say them ‘My father is a martyr. Actually I don’t want to be known a son of martyr at this age” says Bayraktar.
