State forces torture the villagers of Şapatan-Hakkari

HAKKARİ –Soldiers and police forces tortured villagers after returning from military operation in Şapatan Village of Şemdinli-Hakkari. Twenty of villagers who have traces of torture on their bodies were released.


Altınsu (Şapatan) Village with two thousand population  was blockaded by police and soldiers yesterday night after one special police force lost his life during conflict. It was reported 36 villagers were taken into custody after they were exposed to torture. Detained villagers were sent to police headquarter of Şemdinli and entrance and exist of village were closed by soldiers and police forces.


It was reported 20 of villagers who have traces of torture on their bodies were released and 16 of villagers are kept in the headquarter.


The villagers of Şapatan had been threatened by police and soldiers since long time and security cameras were located top of the village’s mosque. Villagers called to public opinion to help after tortures they were exposed to.
