Demirtaş's letter for CPT seized and Ahmet Türk forced to have treatment with handcuff

ANKARA – İHD committee visited to HDP PMs and DBPs co-mayors in prisons. According to committee, Demirtaş’s letter for CPT was seized by prison authorities and also Ahmet Türk was forced to have treatment with handcuff. Ahmet Türk still couldn’t receive any treatment because he refused to taken with handcuff.  




 Human Rights Association (İHD) sent a committee to visit HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) PMs and DBP (Democratic Regions Party) co-mayors in prison. After the visiting politicians İHD made a press statement about their observations and commentates. İHD chair Öztürk Türkdoğan and General Secretary Hasan Anlar had statement in behalf of İHD.

 

Committee reported that They visited HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, PMs Gülser Yıldırım, Ferhat Encü, DBP co-mayors Gültan Kışanak,Nurhayat Altun and KJA ( Free Women Movement) spokesperson Ayla Akat and former PM Edibe Şahin. Committee also reported that during the visiting prison guards stayed in meeting room and metting were recorded by video camera. “This implementation is violated to attorney-client-privilege” said committee .Almost all prisoners are isolated and three of them are kept in single cell.  




It was mentioned that prisoners’ demand to stay in same place were demanded in Kandıra Prison. Acoording to law , prisoners can have fresh space 10 hours in a week but prisons authorities let only 3-4 hours to have fresh space. Also committee reported that “ according to prisoners we visitied, fax and letters were censored by authorities”.




It was reported that Ferhat Encü is isolated in Woman prison despite he demanded to transfer to other prison. Also He is not able to have social space because of he is only man in prison.




İHD committee also reported that Demirtaş letter which he wrote to CPT (European Committee for the prevention and torture) was seized by authorities.

Ahmet Türk was forced to have treatment with handcuff despite he refused. Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Türk has cardiac pacemaker. Türk couldn’t receive any treatment after he refused to go with handcuff said committee.
