Özgür Gündem chief editor had been sent to Silivri Prison after he had been detained on charge of “being member of illegal organization” on 16 August 2016. First trial of Zana with Aslı Erdoğan and Necmiye Alpay was heard yesterday on December 30. Co-workers of Zana greeted to emancipate Zana in front of Silivri Prison. First speech of Zana was “I will resume on my job.” Kaya shared his four and half months experience with dihaber. “Police raided right after power decided to close our newspaper. Police who came to editorial floor battered us. Detention was like lynch operation. They spate I and İnan Kızılkaya from the other co-workers. They put us different car for six or seven hours and tortured us systematically” said Kaya. “They were reminding us to journalist Musa Anter, much known Apé Musa, how he was murdered and threaten us “your last will be like him. Then they had taken us to police station. After that court jailed us ‘to be member of illegal organization’. At first days they didn’t brought us to our other co-workers cell. We were isolated. Then they put another person who were jailed because of ‘being member of Gülen organization’ in our cell. After our objection they took him another cell “said Kaya. Kaya also remarked conditions of prison of Silivri. “All basic rights were seized in the prison. In a matter of speaking it is not like to be jailed but captivity. Not prison but concentration camp. Specifically all basic rights were suspended without any justification in number nine ward” said Kaya. “Despite we demand to participate to our first trial, we didn’t brought to court house. The people who read accusation know well. All imputed charges against us are same. All of them are practice of doing journalism. In fact, doing journalism is seen as a crime in our case. Besides, To release three of us and keep İnan Kızılkaya is a message to free press which means detention will continue against free press” said Kaya. “ We heard from the television that I will released. People don’t know if to be happy or not because other your co-workers are still prisoned. Also politicians, human rights activists are prisoned as well. Therefore I have bittersweet happiness. But struggle will keep continue. The important thing is keep going to struggle and follow the truth” said Kaya. Zana also remarked that despite to close Özgür Gündem Newspaper, there is still struggle of Özgür Gündem. “ There are close newspaper to Özgür Gündem. We are journalists and we will keep going to work until we pay our debt to people which is showing the truth” said Zana
