HAKKARİ – Witnesses of Güneş Operation (Sun Operation) Çığlı (Aşût) habitants reacted to Turkish State for preparing the new cross-border operation. Habitants said “They have power to enter but even 10 percent of them may not return”.

Military build-up and statements of government officials prognosticate to a new cross-border operation  such as Güneş Operation in February 2008. Çukurca County of Hakkari city’s Çığlı village habitants “Operations didn’t show any result nor will show” said.

“Public opinion has no idea how many people have die”

A habitant named Hüseyin Ediş said that Government should think the peace option instead of the war option. “Tens of operations had been launched to Qandil, Zap and Metina territories. But nothing had gained. They had backed with ashamed and loss. After every single operations hundreds people lost their life but it haven’t been reflected to the press. Therefore this preparing operation will not be succeed as before. This people can’t be ended by operations and destruction.” said Ediş.

Another habitant Süleyman Demir said “They had recruited a huge force for Qandil and Zap operations. They went. Yes, they know they went but they even don’t know how they could return. Indeed they have forces to go but I’m not sure whether they can return or not. I think even ten percent of them may not return.”
