Students prisoned since five years despite the Supreme Court's decision 2017-02-06 11:55:55 MALATYA – Despite the remittitur jailed six college students since 2012, students didn’t released since one year because of the files didn’t received by the local court. Six students had been jailed on charges of “ being member of illegal organization” and “propaganda for illegal organization” as shown evidence such as press statements. Court of appeals for the 16th circuit reversed the judgement maximum penalized and demanded to minimum penalized and sent the file on 23 December 2015. One of the students named Umut Çalışkan’s lawyer Hasan Doğan “ I applied two times with written applications when I didn’t get answer from the phone. But as I know at last the file has been sent to Supreme Court of appeals prosecutor's office” said. Lawyer Doğan also mentioned that students already is kept more than four years and two months which corresponds the minimum penalized. “ The students already were unjustly treated.Therefore we applied to releasing decision for students” said Doğan.
