Armenian Village Germush becomes the center of treasure hunters 2016-11-22 10:10:40 URFA – In Spite of Cabinet “Tourism Center” Decree the largest village of Armenian Germuş (Dağ eteği) in Urfa have become center of treasure hunters and its church had transformed to barn. Germuş was the largest village in Urfa region before 1915. The village had 800 houses but today only 20 houses and a church left. But the most suffered one is the church. Germuş church had transformed to a barn and had been dug by treasure hunters. Germuş means the bridge in Armenian Language. According to some sources around thousand people were living in the village until 1895. After Muslims had started to kill Armenians, survived people had migrated to Mosul and Aleppo.
