İHD, THİV, ÖHP and ÇHD's statement : Hunger strike ended but rights violation is continuing 2017-04-20 13:21:28 ANKARA – Human Rights Association (İHD), Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TİHV), Libertarian Lawyers Platform (ÖHP) and Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD) made a statement on ended hunger strike on 64th days. İHD co-chair Öztür Türkdoğan remarked heavy conditions are continuing in prisons despite hunger strike was ended by prisoners. İHD , TİHV, ÖHP and ÇHD made a press statement on ended hunger strike to remark rights violation are still continuing. İHD co-chair Öztürk Türkdoğan, THİV general secretary Metin Bakkalcı and ÇHD lawyer Murat Yıldız attended the press conference in the headquarter of İHD in Ankara. “ We were agreed with prisoners’ demands . We need to be sensitive if the subject is about prisons. Because people can be accused as terrorist easily in Turkey. Therefore anyone can being put in prison” said Türkdoğan. “ Indefinite hunger strike without rotation might be ended but rights violation are still continuing in prisons. According to our report, there are about 210 thousand prisoners in Turkey. Even this fullness is violation by itself. Prisoners are waiting to sleep because population of prisons are over its capacity. 22 people are kept in eight capacity cells” said Türkdoğan.
