Governorship refuses negotiate with people of Sur

DİYARBAKIR – Decided to demolished neighborhoods Alipaşa and Lalebey’s residents marching to Governorship Building were blocked by police.

Citizen of Alipaşa and Lalebey Neighborhoods protest government because demolishing neighborhoods decision. Numbers of citizen gathered and began to march to governorship building at this early morning hours from Church Square. The neighborhoods were blockaded by riot police after citizen gathered and began to march.

Police said they will only speak with representative of the gathered people. Two representatives of neighborhood went with police to meet with governor. After a while representatives came back and make statement. Representatives reportedly told they could not meet with governor but with chief of police and they were reported chief of police will carry their requests to the governor. Representatives also told water and electricity will not being cut until governor respond the requests.
