Monument of Orhan Doğan demolished by trustee

ŞIRNAK – Appointed trustee Ahmet Adanur to Cizre Municipality demolished monument of Kurdish politician Orhan Doğan.

Monument was built in 2011 for commemoration of Orhan Doğan by elected co-mayors of DBP (Democratic Regions Party). Monument was demolished by appointed trustee Ahmet Adanur. Police closed the way and demolished the monument with armored scoop by trustee’s order.

Orhan Doğan was born in 1955 in Cizre and graduated from Law Faculty of Ankara University in 1974. He started to work as lawyer in Cizre from 1983 and he was one of the founder of Human Rights Association (İHD). He was elected by Şırnak people as parliamentarian in 1991. He was taken into custody despite the immunity of deputyship in 1994 and jailed. He was released after ten years and his candidate request for election was denied. Orhan Doğan lost his life in 2007 by heart attack. Hundreds thousand people attended his funeral ceremony in Cizre.
