İSTANBUL –Former chair of CHP Altan Öymen said “Is there such an example in the world that parliamentarian is sent prison under state of emergency’s conditions? Of course I mean in democratic countries.”

Former chair of Republic People Party (CHP) Altan Öymen answered questions about referendum and hot agenda to Yurt Gazetesi reporter Ülkü Çoban. Öymen “Equality rule which specially need to be carried out during election process was moved by State of Emergency implementations. Of course this is a predicament situation. Because the voters of this country whose fateful of this country may be under the control of the power” said.

“ Stripping the deputyship of co-chair of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Figen Yüksekdağ is unbelievable. The decision was waited in the assembly and no one know about the decision. Suddenly it was announced. Immunity of deputyship is almost any countries of whole around the world. You just became made to a party ( HDP) and removing the immunity of deputyship to jailing them. There is no such a thing! Immunity is removed one by one. Not all in one time. In fact we see the consequences” stated Öymen.

“HDP is a party of this country as the others. Removing immunity of deputies on ground of claims is wrong. Co-chairs and parliamentarians of a party are jailed. Not because they were found guilty but the claims” said Öymen.
