Witnesses speak after curfew removed in Xerabé Bava Village

MARDİN – Truths came to light after curfew was removed in Xerabé Bava Village of Nusaybin county 19 days later. It was reported that houses were destroyed and fatlings were killed. It was also reported that from 7 to 70 everybody in village were exposed to torture.



One of the villagers from Xerabé Bava (Koruköy) Sabri Bayhan who also were taken into custody for 17 days said that he could survive from soldiers’ gun fire to hide under stairs. “ bullets were sprayed towards our house. After I called gendarme they stopped to fire and took us out of house” said Bayhan.



Bayhan “They were battering me during take me out of house. Then they put me middle of garden and wafted on the ground.Then I was taken to gendarme headquarter” said.

Bayhan also said soldiers killed their chicken for lunch. “I had 40 chicken but only left three and they used all of wood. They killed even my cow which is about birthing. Those animal was my everything to earn money” said Bayhan.



Another witness Ahmet Göktaş said “They didn’t even let us go to pray to mosque.”

Göktaş “ While I was about living from village with another villager named Eshad. They stopped us and ‘Come here. We have something to do with you’. Then they asked ‘is there any asylum here’ and we were taken next to a dead body and asked whether we know him/her or not. Despite we didn’t know they started to batter us and claimed that we were lying. They were saying that they killed four people but we could see only one person.




12 year-old child named E.G ‘We went to my grandmother when my parents were taken into custody. They disrupted all things in the house and we were told “if you don’t tell us where they are we will burn your house and torture you and also don’t let your father to release until he dies’. Then they battered my brother and me” said.
