Helicopter crashes in İstanbul : Five dies

İSTANBUL –A helicopter crashed in Büyükçekmece-İstanbul. It was reported that two pilots, four Russians and one Turkish passanger were in helicopter. According to mayor of Büyükçekmece Municipality, surviving from the crash is impossible.




A helicopter crashed in Büyükçekmece-İstanbul right after it clashed to a tower at 11.20 a.m. It was reported that five people in seven lost their life at the crash.



Mayor of Büyükçekmece Municipality Hasan Akgün stated that numbers ambulances and fire brigades were sent to scene of the accident and five bodies were located. Mayor also said surviving from the crash is impossible. Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin also confirmed that five people lost their life.




It was reported that Sikorsky S-76 type helicopter was belong to Eczacıbaşı Company Group and there were two pilots, one Turkish citizen and four Russian citizens. It was also reported that Turkish citizen was Eczacıbaşı Vitra Russia General Director Salim Özen and five Russian citizens named Aleksandır Vanin, Igor Kochergin, Luidmina Churova, Elena Badraga were lost their life.



According to witness statement, helicopter crashed to E-5 roadway and it might crash due to fog. Traffic at E-5 roadway was closed after the crash.
