Operation before Newroz Celebration : Numbers people taken into custody

NEWS BUREOU – Turkish State launched operations towards Kurds before Newroz Celebration ( March 21). Numbers people included chair of Newroz Organization Committee, Journalist and Assyrian Union Association chair Yuhanna Aktaş were taken into custody in Antalya, Adana, İstanbul, İzmir, Bursa, Hatay, Mardin, Maraş, Antep, Adıyaman, Muş and Tekirdağ cities.




At least 10 people were taken into custody in Muratpaşa ,Kepez and Alanya counties of Antalya. Police raided to numbers houses and took at least 10 people into custody included organization committee members and executives of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party).




It was reported that detained people were sent to police headquarter of Antalya.



Police made operation in Adana towards Kurds. Raids began at early morning hours in Seyhan,Yüreğir and Ceyhan counties by helicopter supporting and neighborhoods were blockaded by armored vehicles. 36 people were taken into custody included eight women and closed Dünya Radio ( World Radio) executive editor Medine Gümüş during raids. It was reported that detained people were sent to Adana police headquarter.




Police also raided to imprisoned wholesaler of closed Özgür Gündem and Azadiya Welat newspapers Hakan Ergün’s house. Police forces asked the family where Ergün is because there is warrant for him.




Police raided numbers houses to Sarıgazi and Sultangazi counties of İstanbul. It was reported that numbers people included freelance journalist Cüneyt Yavuz were taken into custody during raids.




Numbers people included executives of HDP and Committee members of Newroz Organization were taken into custody by police raids in İzmir. It was reported that numbers of detention can be raise.




Police made operation towards HDP members’ houses in Hatay where Newroz is planned to celebrate on March 19. It was reported that at least ten people were taken into custody.

Chair Committee of Newroz Organization in Mardin and Assyrian Union Association chair Yuhanna Aktaş was taken into custody by police raids in Mardin at early morning hours. It was reported that Aktaş was taken into custody as part of carried investigation by Republic Chief Prosecution’s of Midyat county.




It was also reported that numbers electronic materials which belongs to Aktaş were seized by police forces.



Police raided numbers houses in Nusaybin and Midyat counties of Mardin city at the same time. Numbers people included HDP Mardin province chair Eylem Amak were taken into custody and numbers of detention will be raise.




HDP Maraş Province chair Mehmet Eren, Yusuf Çetin and citizens unidentified were taken into custody in Pazarcık county of Maraş.



Police forces took 10 citizens into custody in Adıyaman. It was reported that citizens were taken into custody on claim of “propaganda for illegal organization by shared posts on social media.



Numbers people included HDP province co-chair Güler Erat and number student of university were taken custody and sent to police headquarter.



Another city that operation launched towards HDP members is Bursa. Police raided number houses in İnegöl, Gemlik and Yıldırım counties of Bursa. It was reported 17 people were taken into custody and police didn’t show any justification on arrests because of confidently order.




Seven people included students were taken into custody by police raids in Muş and sent to police headquarter of Muş.




Meanwhile police also blockaded the building of HDP Muş province by armored vehicles at this early morning hours.




11 people included HDP Çorlu county accountant Abdullah Demir were taken into custody by police raids in Çorlu county of Tekirdağ at early morning hours. It was reported that detained people were sent to police headquarter of Tekirdağ.
