Dihaber reporter Abdurahman Gök valued to being awarded

İSTANBUL – 20th journalist awards of Metin Göktepe were given. There will be three jury’s special award for this year. One award of jury’s special will be given to reporter of Dihaber Abdurrahman Gök who photographed the moment of killing Kemal Kurkurt on March 21 of 2017 by reason of “ witnessing to important truth”.


Organization committee of 20th journalist awards of Metin Göktepe announced the winners. The committee also stated that they decided to give three jury’s special awards for this year. Awards will be given at birthday of Metin Göktepe on April 10.

Cansu Pişkin was seen value on news published titled “ Radioactive scandal” in Evrensel Newspaper on March 1 of 2017.


Video News’ award will be given to Selin Girit who published “ Torture claims into custody: Witness narratives” in BBC Turkish service.


Photograph award will be given to Tamer Arda Erşin who took picture while police forces with dog intervened to demonstrators while protesting to discharging academician of Ankara University on February 12 of 2017.


Local journalism award will given to Deniz Çaba from İzmir Life Magazine. Çaba won awards from the news which titled “ Being refugee : This time they are speaking”. The news was about tragic life of Syrian refugees.



Three jury’s special award will given to Abdurrahman Gök from Dihaber,Canan Coşkun and Elif AKgül from Cumhuriyet Newspaper and Bianet, Ahmet Şık from Cumhuriyet. Abdurrahman Gök was valued to being awarded for the moment he witnessed and took picture of killing Kemal Kurkurt on March 21 of 2017. Cana Coşkun and Elif Akgül were valued to being awarded for special file news of Hrant Dink assassination. Imprisoned journalist Ahmet Şık was valued to being awarded for the news titled “code of July 15” which published between December 8 and 13 of 2016.
