ISTANBUL – Imprisoned Mardin Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk sent a message to dihaber and wrote “Arresting us is a politic decision. It was already obvious. They had already planned where we would put in jail and how we would transferred. Our flight and place were arranged.”


Following the trustee appointed to Mardin Municipality, Ahmet Turk, Mardin co-mayor, was put in Silivri Prison. “This reason is not only targeting the Kurds but also targeting all population who demands freedom and democracy. This attitude brings us disaster. Kurds are being targeted by nationalist groups with state’s policies which creates hate. It is needed a process which relieved Turkey. Society was polarized. Turkey needs to have normalization process. There is no sense to speak about peace while society is stretched but we can speak about the peace after the normalization process. Therefore, we need a strong political stand,” mentioned Ahmet Türk in his letter.


“Our fight is for humanity and its dignity and this is rightful,” said Ahmet Türk and continued,“ We, as politicians, are not only fighting for Kurds but also all people who demands freedom and democracy. We are not enemy of Turks.”
