CHP parliamentarian : Aslı Erdoğan has risk to get paralyzed

News bureau – CHP parliamentarian Utku Çakırözer visited prisoned authors and journalists included Aslı Erdoğan who has serious health problem.



CHP (Republic People Party) Eskişehir parliamentarian Utku Çakırözer visited prisoned Necmiye Alpay,Aslı Erdoğan,Nazlı Ilıcak and Büşra Erdal in Bakırköy Women Prison ; He also visited to Ahmet Altan,Mehmet Altan,Turan Alkan,Ali Bulaç,Şahin Alpay,Murat Aksoy and Atilla Taş in Silivri Prison. Çakırözer said that Aslı Erdoğan has risk to get paralyzed.



According to Gazete Duvar (newspaper) reporter Nergis Demirkaya, Parliamentarian Çakırözer had prepared parliamentary question, which is about observed problems in prisons he visited to response by Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ .



Here are the problems Çakırözer remarked;


Limitation of Visiting


-Visiting right of three people was removed. Right of the free visitation of family was one time in a month but them changed one time in two months. Phone calling limitation was 10 mins in a week but it was changed 10 mins in 15 days. Limitless lawyer visitation has changed to once in a week for an hour. Lawyer visiting is recorded by camera and guard stays with prisoner during lawyer meeting.

Letter Ban



-There is limitation to send letter or other materials. Authors and journalist comment this limitation as cruelty and psychologic torture.


Book ban


-I was made forbidden to send book to prisoners. Prisoners only can reach prison library’s book. Especially journalists can’t reach the books for their defense on trial.
