ANKARA – Imprisoned co-chair of HDP Selahattin Demirtaş answered dihaber question by written letter. Demirtaş “ We are strong and not afraid” said.



* How many and what kind of books did you read during your imprisonment ?




I guess around 100 book I read and I am trying to read different kinds of books but mostly I read novel.



* Is there any name that surprise you that visited you?




I can only see my family and lawyers. But uncle, aunt and cousins can’t visit me due to state of emergency’s condition and also my other right which I can choose three people that can visit me was seized.



* Did any AKP (Justice and Development Party) members send you message?




I do receive message and letter from different opinions from CHP, AKP and even MHP. They mention that they are solidarity with me which makes me happy. But AKP executives and lawmakers who claim they are democratic and side of justice didn’t send me letter nor message.



* You have also calling right ever week. Who do you call?



I do call my wife 10 minutes limited for once in 15 days. My wife and daughters being ready when I call them. Recent times my daughter Delal playing the violin and little daughter Dılda guitar. When 10 minutes end phone is closed automatically.



*How many letters did you receive until now?




I can’t account exactly but I received thousands letters.



* From which countries?




Almost from everywhere in Europe, in Canada, US and Australia.



* Do you reply and collect letters?




I replied most of letters. In addition to this, I replied shortly due to thousand letters. But I collect all letters I received.



* Can you share an interesting letter that you received?




All letters are interesting and meaningful to me.



* In which languages?




Generally I receive Turkish, Kurdish and English. But mostly Turkish.



*Which was the most touching?




All of letters was touching for me.



* How are your art activities going?




I am doing art with amateur sprit but with special aim. For me politic is not to being beetle browed but taking serious.




In this context joke is the most serious working for me. Because joke is one the important tools for me in the politic and life. Joke is a working which fascism can’t handle and get over it and also the most intimate way to contact with society. Same for literature. Our daily language is masculine and rude. But art can be used in the politic because it whittles this rude language. Using art and literature is making clear HDP policy to society.
