Derailed police and soldiers' families make a press statement

DİYARBAKIR – Families of six soldier and police who were derailed by PKK made a press statement in Diyarbakır. Families had reacted to state because of inattention. Families also demanded from PKK to share information about their children.

PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) had derailed 13 soldiers and police at the different periods until now. Families of six police and soldier made a press statement in the Human Rights Association (İHD) of Diyarbakır Office. It was reported İHD Diyarbakır province chairperson Raci Bilici and region representative Abdulselam İnceören attended the statement.

Bilici “ We need to struggle against discrimination of human rights under the all kind of conditions. We had leaded to take back soldiers and police who had been derailed by PKK all period despite investigations were launched towards us. We are ready to take responsibility whatever needs. We wish both PKK and state listen us and accept our demand and provide channel to take back derailed police and soldiers” said.


Sergeant Semih Özbey’s father Gürsel Özbey spoke after Bilici. “ We are like living dead since my son was derailed. We don’t have any information about my son since months. The last time I saw my son was first months of 2016. State didn’t inform us at all. We don’t know whether those children are alive or not. It is written in constitution that state is responsible to take care of life safety of citizen. Those children were derailed at the road of state. But state didn’t lay claim to our children. I want to call the organization as well. Stop to punish us. Don’t let us live this pain anymore. Give us our children” said father Bilici.


Specialist sergeant Ümit Gıcır’s father Musa Gıcır made a statement after father Özbey spoke. “ My son was derailed in road of Çukurca-Hakkari on September 21 of 2016. We don’t have any information since then. Despite we applied to authorities of state, they told us to ‘ have patient’” said father Gıcır.


Brother Ali Polat said they don’t have any information about his brother specialist sergeant Ferdi Polat since he was derailed in Şırnak. “ I want to see my brother whether he is dead or alive. Those children are poor-fellow’s children. There is no any children derailed from richs. Enough is enough. Neither mother cries nor children die anymore” said brother Polat.


Father Şevket Altıntaş “ I send my son Müslüm Altıntaş who was derailed on October 2 of 2015 in Dersim-Pülümür to military service with a flourish of trumpets. My biggest complaint is to the state. They didn’t take interest on us when my son was derailed” said.

After the press statement, families left the city.
