ANKARA – The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) gathered with special agenda due to commemoration of coup attempt. CHP, HDP and MHP’s lawmakers didn’t applaud President Tayyip Erdoğan.
TBMM General Council gathered with special agenda on commemoration of July 15 coup attempt. TBMM speaker İsmail Kahraman administrated the session.
Turkish President and AKP (Justice and Development Party) chairperson Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also came to the assembly due to special agenda. It was reported CHP (Republic People Party), HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) and MHP’s (National Movement Party) lawmakers didn’t stand up and applaud while Erdoğan came to the assembly.
Kahraman made opening speech “ Ballot is everything for democracy. It is not the element but fundamental. Turkey continues its way with democratic system and it will. Turkey is a state of law that respect all kind of opinions. We had passed a test with July 15. We released common declaration with all parties after failed coup attempt” said Kahraman.
After Kahraman speech, the parties’ group president made a speech for 10 minutes.
Lawmaker Ahmet Yıldırım had to make a speech because HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş is jailed.
