Commemoration of Suruç : Their smiles are alive at the faces of Kobané's children

URFA – Şemsa Yurtgül, mother of Suruç Massacre victim Murat Yurtgül spoke at commemoration of the Massacre and told “ They are accusing us as terrorist. If we are terrorist, who did we kill? Did we burn people as alive? It is obvious who terrorists are.”

Victims of Suruç Massacre was remembered by a large number of people included HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) lawmaker Feleknas Uca, HDP Party Council member Faruk Sağlam, DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Party Council member Selma Sürer in Suruç where 33 young were killed by DAİŞ (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) bomb attack on July 20 of 2015.

Amara Culture Center where young activists were murdered was blockaded by police from the early morning hours. It was reported police forces had located armored vehicles around the culture center. It was also reported HDP Suruç province co-chair Rojda Binici wasn’t allowed to enter the city center.

Commemoration program had started at 11.50 a.m. Police checked ID cards of attender before commemoration began. The program started by observing a minute’s silence and then people left cloves at the where victims were murdered.

Victim Uğur Özkan’s brother Süleyman Özkan made the first speech. “ The flowers which planted for victims were picked. They killed them and they picked the flowers which was planted for them. Those children had came here with toys and these toys would be given to children of Kobane. They could influence the world by that action. We will not give up from justice struggle even two centuries pass. They will pay the price sooner or later. I believe those children who lost their life in here, they are watching us right now. Because I feel them they are here. My brother Hogır is here, Polan too. I want to say them that Kobana had its victory. Your smiles are alive at the face of Kobane’s children” said brother Özkan.

Victim Cemil Yıldız’s wife Sultan Yıldız spoke after Özkan. “ Those people hadn’t came to here with weapons but with toys for children of Kobane. Those 33 young were killed because they were unprotected” said wife Yıldız.

Victim Murat Yurtgül’s mother Şemsa Yurtgül spoke aftet YIldız. “ If they weren’t allowed to go to Kobane, why did you let them come to here in Suruç? Why did they killed our children? What was their fault? My son was psychologist. He went to Soma after hundreds workers were killed and took care of victims’ children. They kept waiting the bomber until our children had came here. Now they are accusing us as terrorist. Who did we kill? Did we burn any people as alive? It is obvious who terrorists are” said mother Yurtgül.
