Seven spoken languages in Raqqa : Full of the love against darkness

RAQQA – QSD forces from different countries are speaking seven different languages in Raqqa’s streets where was left in darkness of DAİŞ during five years. Conversations between QSD forces sometime begin with English and French and suddenly keep continue in Kurdish, Arabic or Turkish. “ Full of the love against darkness” writing on the wall how fighters describe themselves.




Operation towards Raqqa city named ‘Great War’ led by QSD (Democratic Syrian Forces) is continuing since June 6. Warriors from all around the world are pouring to QSD’s front in Raqqa for the historic war after they involved ‘Fury of Euphrates Operation’ in November 5th of 2016. Fighters of QSD from different countries, ethnicities and religion are fighting against DAİŞ (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) for returning darkness to light. Nowadays seven different languages are spoken in the streets of Raqqa.




Raqqa as one of the ancient city of Middle East has also strategic importance. The city was left in the darkness of DAİŞ since five years but it became center of politic attention after QSD had launched operation to liberate. Fighters of QSD became at the center of politic attention too because of its multicultural structure. Fighters who are fighting against DAİŞ in Raqqa are from tens different countries included Spain, Italy, England, France, Germany,Poland, Greece, Canada, Sweden, Turkey and Iran. Therefore at least seven different languages are spoken in the streets of Raqqa. The conversations which begins in English or French can be end in Kurdish, Arabic or Turkish.




Also almost all fighters are making effort to learn Kurdish. Some of fighters’ Kurdish speaking are impressed.
