DİYARBAKIR – Supporting was cut to Êzidî camp after trustee was appointed to Yenişehir Muncipality. Disaster and Emergence Menagment Presidency (AFAD) authorities wanted to them leave to AFAD camp.
Êzidîs forced to migrate to Diyarbakır after ISIL attacked to Sinjar in 2014. DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Yenişehir Municipality had built camp for Êzidîs but appointed trustee left them alone nowadays. At first there were around six thousand Êzidî but today only 1.200 of them remained. Some of them went to Europe or Sinjar. Rest of them who stayed in camp cannot receive any help because all associations who were providing basic needs were closed by Decree with Power of Law.
Especially Rojava Association was providing basic needs for Êzidîs. And also Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality,Kayapınar,Sur and Yenişehir Municipalities as well. But providing needs were cut after the Decree Rojava Association were closed and Trustees were appointed to municipalities.
Trustees from Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and Sur Municipality discharged their personnel from the camp. Then send AFAD authorities to ask leave the camp. Authorities had said “Your conditions are not well enough in here. We want to close this camp and take you AFAD camp”, according to an Êzidî from the camp. But Êzidî had refused to authorities offer.
Also there is a holy celebration of Êzidîs next Friday. They will fast for three days then celebrate the “ the Day of Êzidî “. But nowadays they are concerned about their recent situations. Kûre Ali (65) said “ We are concerned about our lives. We are trying to survive despite all hard conditions. We don’t want to go to AFAD camp. It is not better than here.”
Another anonymous Êzidî is one of the people who participated the meeting with authorities. He said “ We started to more concerned after the meeting. We told them that we don’t want to leave here. They threated us to not give ID card if we refuse to leave from here.”
