İSTANBUL – Author Aslı Erdoğan says “ both to be jailed and released are surprised to me. State showed me the missing point in my novel. The Strange thing is that the scene I created in my novel had been lived in that prison.”



Closed Özgür Gündem Newspaper publish advisor member and author Aslı Erdoğan lived her first day with her mother after 133 days in prison. Aslı Erdoğan commented on jailed and released as surprise. “ I just started to see dreams about detention. They separate you from your live and you have no idea when you will come back” said Erdoğan.




“ I would leave everything. I was about leaving from Turkey. I also planned to write letter of farewell end of the summer. I would spend my time only for literature” said Erdoğan and added “ The worst thing is that you never know when you are going to be released and to be outside is like the most beautiful and ugliest things of world are coming back to your life.”




“ It was realy hard to leave friends in prison. It is too hard. We don’t know even when we will see each other again. A door is closed suddenly and you don’t see each other anymore” says Erdoğan.




Aslı Erdoğan mentioned the hardest period in the prison was the firs half month and she missed everything she lef outside. Aslı Erdoğan said “ I didn’t like the sea before I was taken the prison but after a while in prison , I started to miss even the sea and blue sky. When I saw the sea on TV I started to cry.”




“ We were jailed only because of we are members of publish advisor committee of Özgür Gündem newspaper. Therefore legal position tried to showed as illegal position. Even closing a newspaper can’t be shown as “illegal”. If there is “propaganda for illegal organization” then prosecutor who allowed published newspaper should be judged too on charge of “ being member of illegal organization”. Even have knowledge about the law , you will see these accusations are laugh” said Erdoğan.




Aslı Erdoğan also remarked about Bakırköy Women Prison’s conditions. “ There are over 70 political prisoners in the Bakırköy Women Prison. They aren’t called as political prisoners but ‘guilty for terror’. Anyone can be transferred to other prisones any moment. This is realy bad time to put in prison” said Erdoğan.

Erdoğan thanks to people who were solidarizing with her by sending post card. “ Solidarity message was coming even from New Zeland and Suudi Arabia. I have also seen comments such as ‘Aslı Erdoğan should be punished’. They are speaking about you but you don’t have right to answer. If there wouldn’t be solidarty they might keep me longer” said Erdoğan.




There is also good new from Aslı Erdoğan to her readers. “ My new book already had finished in March. One essays another is stories. I m going to finish them then I will write a new nove. There is a novel which I already started to write. I can’t say it is prison novel, it is marriage novel. Main character is a researcher author who married with an American. She is writing a thesis about literature and she has short period experience to put in jail. But this experience is like a black hole. This experience is the only point where the man can’t enter in. Woman can’t say the experience and man imagines things such as torture. I couldn’t write this part. It s just sit on my mind with this prison experience. It was the story which I set a long years ago. And suddenly state showed me the missing point in my novel. The strange thing is that the scene in the novel had been already lived in this prison.
