ANKARA – HDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ sent a message for the new year from the prison. “ We are passing to new year under the prison conditions. We may be alone in our cells but this is the most crowded new year we are passing. Because we know hearts of the millions are with us…” wrote co-chairs.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) imprisoned co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ sent a message by their lawyer.

“ 2016 was a year which was heavy and twisted our hearts. A year we are passing despite the pains , tears and dead with resistance.

If blood and tears are continuing to bleed, that means nothing has changed on hegemonic minds. But there is also a thing which didn’t change : Hopes of peace , equality, justice and democracy.

The negatives thing we lived shouldn’t prevent our hopes. We are passing this year in the prison. We may be alone in our cells but this is most crowded year we live. Because we know hearts of millions are with us in here…
