'Over 500 students imprisoned'

İZMİR – College students pointed out the government pressure and launched investigations against themselves. Eğitim-Sen executive Aydın Arı said there are over 500 imprisoned students in Turkey.


Youth organizations in İzmir made a press statement in Education and Science Worker’s Union (Eğitim-Sen) Branch office in izmir to point out pressures and investigation against themselves. Also Aegean and Dokuz Eylül Universities’’ academicians attended the press statement. A college student İlker Savran spoke on behalf of the students. “Suspensions and discharges are still continuing. The demonstration we aimed to realize which named “Human Rights are more important than State of Emergence and its Decrees and we will not give in your suspensions, exiles and punish” on December 11 was made forbidden. Also during the organizing the demonstration we had faced with police and private security forces’ oppressions.

Eğitim Sen executive Aydın Arı mentioned that there are over 500 students who are jailed. “We are struggling for imprisoned students. To jailing is an implementation to punish students same as others.
