DİYARBAKIR – President Erdoğan had said “I definitely want Diyarbakır,Van and Mardin Metropolitan Municipalities” before local elections in 2014. But none of these cities had elected to Erdoğan’s party AKP (Justice and Development Party). After more than two years Erdoğan and his party team had appointed trustee to Van,Diyarbakır and Mardin Mardin Metropolitan Municipalities for realizing Erdoğan’s dream. Since September 11, 35 co-mayors and two deputy mayors had been arrested and trustee had appointed by Turkish State to 34 municipalities includes 3 metropolitan municipality.

BDP had won 102 municipalities in local elections

BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) had won local election with the landslide victory in 31 March 2014. BDP had won 3 metropolitan, 11 cities, 68 counties and 23 town municipalities.

34 Trustees in 67 Days
Tens of co-mayors had suspended or arrested by Interior Ministry with swiftly prepared investigation files. 35 co-mayors and two deputy mayors had arrested up till now. Right after arresting the co-mayors, 34 trustees appointed by Government.
