İSTANBUL – Closed associations by Decree with Power of the Law made a press conference in İstanbul and stated that what is happening today is unlawful and we will keep continue to our works.
Many association included Arzela Culture Center, MED Culture Center, Mala Gel Association, MKM (Mesopotamia Culture Association), Gökkuşağı Kadın Derneği (Rainbow Women Association) and ÖHD (Libertarian Lawyers Association) had participated the press conference. Gökkuşağı Kadın Derneği member Bircan Şahin had a statement in behalf of the all associations.

Summary of the statement;

“AKP (Justice and Development Party) had been practicing since they have power. But unlawful practices had culminated in July 15 coup attempts. Tens of TV, radio, newspaper had been closed and freedom of receiving information was violated. AKP Power can’t stand with other voices and ideas. This position makes people run out of hope for future. But we as civil society associations workers with democratic society idea are keeping our faith about future and democracy. We will never stay hopeless.”
