İZMİR – A Syrian baby Nouf three months old lost his life because of “difficulty on breathing due to under nourish”.

Nouf family had took Nouf to Torbalı State Hospital when he had started to suffer a seizure on November 15. Hospital authorities hadn’t accepted to examine due to he didn’t have “temporary protection identity”. Authorities had asked to have “temporary protection identity” from İzmir city center. But family had took Nouf Baby to home because of they didn’t have any money to take the identity.

Same day at night mother of Nauf had realized that he was not breathing anymore, said father of Nauf. Then family had took Nauf to hospital again but Nauf already has died. After the autopsy the baby had buried in adult bier .Right after the burial mother and father had to back to work in plantation. As father Abdulkerim Eltuş doctor had said reason of Nouf dead is “difficulty on breathing due to under nourish”.

Father Eltuş, His wife had worked even when she was pregnant and she couldn’t eat healthy food. Eltuş Family had migrated from Idlib to Turkey three years ago. Family is living with other 52 refugees in the same house. There is no electricity, water in the house. Half of refugees are under 16 years old and all of them are working daily for 20 Lira in plantation (approximately 6 euro).

According to official records there are 15 thousand refugees in Torbalı, over 200 thousand refugees in İzmir. Halkların Köprüsü Derneği (Peoples’ Bridge Association) Torbalı manager Mehmet Kaçmaz said “there are 5 thousand people who has got “temporary protection identity” among 15 thousand refugees”. Kaçmaz warned that if government doesn’t take measure many babies may die like Nouf baby.
