İZMİR – Turkey “child right” report is not pleasant at all. In one year 16.957 sexual abuse cases had brought to trial. Each month at least 650 children are suffering from sexual abuse. 3.111 children were imprisoned and 176 child labor had dead last three years.

3.111 children had imprisoned

Right of freedom for child is not protected in Turkey even though it is a fundamental right in all around the world. According to Justice Ministry data of 2016, 2583 children were imprisoned by various crimes and 528 children 0-6 ages are in prison with their imprisoned family. There is no any policy and project about child rights such as education right.

176 labor children had dead last three years

Turkey is one of the most country of low-cost and child labor. According to Ministry of Labour and Social Security statistics of 2016, there are 133.033 children workers under 18 age. 59.571 of those children are girl and 73.432 children are boy. Last three years 176 had dead during them were working.

At least 80 children were killed during curfew

According to TİHV (Human Rights Foundation of Turkey) report at least 80 children had lost their life during the curfew in 7 cities, 22 counties since 16 August 2015. Children had lost their life by shoot gun, not available to reach medical service.

First Zarok TV then Gündem Çocuk had shut downed

State of Emergence (OHAL) had affected adversely the children as well. Firstly Zarok TV (Child TV ) that broadcast cartoon in Kurdish was closed by Decree with Power of Law. Then Gündem Çocuk Association (Agenda Child) was sealed by Decree with Power of Law as well. Gündem Çocuk Association had revived sexual assault in Pozantı Child Prison

Peace for Children Initiative member Dilan Taşdemir “Turkey is one of the signatures of the Child Rights Agreement. Every children have right to live without exception such as race, sex and language.But Turkey is not stick on agreement. Over two years there are unbelievable war in Kurdish cities. Government doesn’t consider to right to live of children. Children are killed on the sidelines of firefight and executed. One of the greatest violation is housing right. 7 districts of Şırnak had completely destroyed. Where will children shelter? They were forced to live in tent in winter." said.
