ANKARA – HDP spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen said “Daily detention to our party’s parliamentarian is part of policies of ‘Yes’ campaign. The aim is to leave HDP as nonoperational” said Bilgen.

‘No’ campaign of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is precluded by detaining its politicians everday. 9200 politicians HDP and its components had been taken into custody and 2.902 of them are jailed included co-chairs, parliamentarians, co-mayors and executives from July 2015.

Also 27 HDP parliamentarians had been taken into custody since 4 November 2016 when co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ with nine parliamentarians were jailed.

According to HDP data, 4.966 politicians were taken into custody and 1.478 of them were jailed. Bilgen “Despite all these oppressions, HDP is still available to do politic. Because this party isn’t based on one man desire or concerns” said.
