DİYARBAKIR – Woman works and institutions were targeted after trustee appointed to Kurdish cities’ municipalities and almost no women left as workers in municipalities. Three women associations and four center of women consultancy belonged to municipalities were closed in Diyarbakır and also all women activities were stopped in Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.




Trustee appointed to 71 Democratic Regions Party (DBP) municipalities which three metropolitan municipalities, nine municipalities, 55 county municipalities and seven town municipalities by Interior Ministry’s Decree. First activities of trustees was targeting women institutions and organizations. Ceren Women Association, Selis Women Association and Jinwar, Selis and Meya women consultancy centers were closes by appointed trustees.

Also Head of Women Department of Metropolitan Municipality Yüksel Acer was suspended and all activities of department was stopped and a man was appointed to the department as vice chair. Yet all activities of Helpline which belonged to Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality was stopped.




Almost all woman who worked in women consultancy centers were discharged in municipalities. 73 women included two sociologists, two teachers of course, two activist workers were discharged in Silvan Municipality. 30 women included six workers of Amida consultancy center were discharged in Sur Municipality.
