İSTANBUL – One of the students of closed İstanbul Kurdish Institute Mustafa Azizoğlu conveys what he learns. Another student Hasan Keskintürk “We don’t need a place for education. They can’t block to learn and teach the language” said.
One of the students of closed İstanbul Kurdish Institute Mustafa Azizoğlu started to teach Kurdish language by himself. Azizoğlu conveys what he learned from the institute to new students in Gölge Kültür Sanat Merkezi ( Shadow Culture and Art Center) . Azizoğlu (56) teachs Kurdish three hours in week and he also learns what he missed from Kurdish novelist Mehmet Uzun’s books.
Azizoğlu “ I enrolled the institute to learning Kurdish language completely. I needed to reach four class but because of closing institute by Decree I could only have until third class. After institute was closed I told my friends that I could be a teacher of Kurdish language and if it is necessary I could also give private lesson. I mean we can’t stop to learning the Kurdish language because of institute was closed. Therefore I started to teach in Gölge Kültür ve Sanat Merkezi and I am regularly teaching to 15 students. We saw that we always have alternative even institute was closed” said.
Father of two children Serhat Ok says that he couldn’t read news and books in Kurdish even he could speak Kurdish from his childhood. “Therefore I started to learn in Kurdish Institute but I could only have lesson until second class because institute was closed. But I and teacher Mustafa decided to learn by ourselves. We asked to teach us from him. I want to teach my children and my wife when I learn how to write and read” stated Ok.
Hakan Keskintürk “ I have been learning and searching on Kurdish language since six years. I am glad to still I can have lesson. School is not between four walls. School is everywhere. We don’t need a place for education. Because conditions never been easy for us. But they can’t block to learn and teach the language” said.
