Journalist Hasan Cemal Sentenced for one year three months imprisonment

İSTANBUL – Journalist Hasan Cemal was sentenced to imprisonment for one year and three months on claims of “ propaganda for illegal organization”.

Sued case against journalist Hasan Cemal was heard in İstanbul Courthouse. Hasan Cemal judged on his article titled “Fehman Hüseyin” which published on t24 news website on 11 Jul 2016.

Hasan Cemal stated “Journalism is not crime. There is no democracy nor law and freedom in a country where journalism is crime. I never defended the terrorism but I defended peace” said in the trail.

After the Hasan Cemal and his lawyer statements, court board punished Hasan Cemal for one year and three months prison sentence.
