Türk and Baykal meet in Mardin : Irreparable election for Turkey

MARDİN – Mardin Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Ahmet Türk and former chairperson of CHP Deniz Baykal met in Mardin and shared their common concerns about referendum. Baykal pointed unequal and war conditions in the Kurdish regions. Türk mentioned about irreparable of changing regime.

Former chairperson of CHP (Republic People Party) Deniz Baykal met with Mardin co-mayor Ahmet Türk during his visitation to Mardin as part of referendum campaign. It was also reported that executives of CHP attended the meeting on Mardin Grand Hotel.

“ Civil war occurred in the southeastern of Turkey and this is policy of Erdoğan’s result. Now you are asking more power from people. 350 thousand people were forced to migrate during the war” said Baykal.

Baykal also remarked the constitutional amendment was proposed to the assembly when HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) lawmakers were jailed. “ HDP is an elected party like AKP (Justice and Development Party), CHP and MHP (Nationalist Movement Party). 11 lawmakers of HDP were jailed when constitutional amendment was proposed to the assembly. Co-mayors of the party were jailed and trustees were appointed to the municipalities. Election is imposed to people under the State of Emergency’s conditions. There is state’s pressure over people. For example how 350 thousand people who were forced to migrate will vote for referendum. They are saying “ If we get 50 percent” without counting right of voting of 350 thousand people who were forced to migrate” said Baykal in the meeting.

Baykal also stated they he will be happy like republic was declared on 1923 if result to be ‘No’. “ They are acting to people as terrorist who will vote ‘No’ and acting to the people as citizen of this country who votes ‘Yes’. Is there such a things ridiculous. All state forces propaganda for ‘Yes’. 24 hours is said ‘Don’t vote ‘No’ for referendum’ on TV.I came to Mardin for ‘No’ campaign” said Baykal.

Ahmet Türk spoke after Deniz Baykal. Türk “ As Baykal mentioned many people lived with pain in this region because of wrong policies. But we are passing from an important changing. They are trying to open the door of changing regime slightly. We saw people like Saddam, Assad and Mubarek spelled trouble in the Middle East” said.
