ANKARA – HDP spokesperson Osman Baydemir spoke in front of Constitutional Court (AYM) and said “ The court which arrested our parliamentarian is not a court but a political authority. Every single judge broke the law by arresting parliamentarian.”

Peoples’ Democratic Party ( HDP) parliamentarians and central executive committee members made a press statement to draw attention on imprisoned lawmakers of HDP in front of AYM. HDP spokesperson Osman Baydemir spoke on behalf of HDP and said “ one of the reason of rejection the referendum result is our imprisoned lawmakers. Constitution protects to all citizen rights such as to elect and to be elected. But our co-chairs who were elected by six million citizen are in prison since 171 days. The result might be different if our co-chairs would be free. ” said Baydemir.

“ Mr.Demirtaş is a lawmaker of İstanbul and people of İstanbul voted ‘No’ on referendum. Co-chair Yüksekdağ is from Adana and a lawmaker of Van. Both Adana and Van voted ‘No’ as well. Baluken is a lawmaker of Diyarbakır and like other cities Diyarbakır voted ‘No’ too. President and members of AYM should know they can’t arrest people who vote ‘No’”stated Baydemir.

Lawmaker Mithat Sancar spoke after spokesperson Osman Baydemir. “ There is nothing new to say. The one who should speak is president of AYM. If there is any politic pressure over them, then they should resign from their position. People should raise their voice because justice is collapsing. If justice collapses , society will collapse too” said Sancar.
