DİYARBAKIR – Family who lost their children during Gezi process visited to family of Kemal Kurkut who was killed by police fire on March 21 of 2017 in Diyarbakır. Families said thousand people were killed by police and soldier fire for years in Turkey and government conducts impunity policy against perpetrators.

The cases against perpetrators who caused to die thousand citizen in western Turkey and Kurdish cities end up with impunity. However families of victims are continuing to seek justice with solidarity. Platform of Mrtyrs and Veterans’ Families of Gezi members visited to murdered Kemal Kurkut’s family. University student Kemal Kurkut was murdered by police while he was trying to attend the Newroz Celebration in Diyarbakır on 21 March 2017.

Spokesperson of the platform Volkan Kesenbilici mentioned numbers people were killed by police fire specially after Gezi Resistance. “ None case was opened to anyone . Besides that murderers were punished as awarded. State awards these murderers by a great impunity. None murder was punished from Gezi process to Kemal Kurkut. They just took into custody for a while. We saw that clearly state protects its police and soldiers even they kill innocent civilian” said Kesenbilici.

Mother of Berkin Elvan who was killed by police fire during Gezi Resistance says they have no result about his son’s case since three and half years. Mother Gülsüm Elvan “ We saw impunity in the cases of Ethem, Dilek Doğan, Uğur Kurt, Kemal Kurkut as well. They just punished them by imposing fine. Labeling killed children as terrorist is unlawfully in itself. My son was murdered while he was going to buy bread. They labeled him as terrorist same for Kemal Kurkut. If there wouldn’t be video screen while Kurkut was killed, he would be known as suicide bomber. I didn’t come here to condole. Because those children didn’t die in ordinary way. Those children were killed by state and we have same pain and wounds. Therefore I came here for solidarity with family” said.

Mother Elvan also reacted to Governor of Şırnak because he determined two children deaths by armored vehicle crushing as ‘faith’. “ I want to tell the government, you will murder and then you will describe as faith. This is not a faith and if it is I don’t accept this faith” said mother Elvan.
