" Language can't be protected only by speaking at home"

DİYARBAKIR – Adil Qazi who used to teach Kurdish in Ferzad Kemanger Elementary School which was closed by Decree spoke about Kurdish Language Day. Qazi “Pressures over Kurdish Language will bring more appropriation” said and called the people to protect their mother language against blocks and pressures.





Kurdish Language Day is celebrated on May 13 since 2006 due to first Kurdish Literature Magazine “Hawar” was published on May 15 of 1932. The day will be celebrated under state of emergency and after number institutions and association about Kurdish Language and Culture were closed by Decree. Ferzan Kemanger Elementary School in Diyarbakır which was teaching Kurdish Language to children is one of these institutions which was closed by Decree.



The school was opened on Semtember 15 of 2014 in Diyarbakır and it was closed number times by prosecution decree and finally it was closed completely by governorship decree. An educator of the school Adil Qazi spoke to dihaber on the day of Kurdish Language after school was closed by decree.



“Language is existing to people and ethnicity. Kurds and their language have history as others have. Kurdish Language is a historic language as much as other languages are. But unfortunately they grudge Kurdish Language to Kurdish people even at 21th century. Pressures over Kurdish Language are continuing like it was continuing before” mentioned Qazi.




“ They can’t stop to people to speak Kurdish by pressure as people can’t stop to sunrise by umbrella. Those mindset are also the ones who responsible of Halabja Massacre. Same mindset are still exist even in 21th century. Years has past, thousands people lost their life but nothing has changed. But it doesn’t matter how much pressure there are over Kurdish Language, people will find a way to protect their language. Kurds will speak Kurdish much more than before to protect their language” said Qazi.




Qazi also says a language can’t be protected only by speaking. “ We need to write our problems and pains with our language, open our schools and educated with Kurdish. We can’t protect our language only by speaking it at home as power desires. A language which is spoke only at home will be disappear” said Qazi.
