VAN – Closed DİHA reporter Nedim Türfent who was taken into custody wrote that he is kept in a single cell since 21 days and his necessary needs are not provided by prison’s officials.




Closed Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reporter Nedim Türfent had taken into custody on May 12 of 2016 while he entered to Van city. Türfent wrote to dihaber after he was transferred to Van T Type High Security Prison on April 26.




“ I am in a single cell since April 26. There is no TV and Radio since then. I drank my first tea after six days. They didn’t give me anything during six days. I can’t read anything since I am kept here. They didn’t give any book from the library yet. Warden says ‘there is no place in cells despite I prove it” said.





Journalist Nedim Türfent had been taken into custody while he entered to Van city. Türfent had been exposed to death threat in social media before he was jailed. At first there was no news about Türfent when he was taken into custody but after the public pressure, official announced that he was taken into custody and kept in Hakkari. Türfent had jailed on May 13 on charge of “being member of illegal organization” and sent to Van T Type Closed Prison.




The accusation file was prepared after one year and the trial will be heard on June 14 in Hakkari.
