Gülmen and Özakça : If detention period being extended we will stop to recieve water and sugar

ANKARA – Discharged academicians Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça were taken into custody by police raids towards their house where hunger strike ongoing. Lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı “ We gave them water and sugar, but they said if detention period being extended they will stop receive water and sugar as well. They also said that they will not obey to injustice.”



Police raided to discharged academicians Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça house during 75th days of hunger strike. It was reported Gülmen and Özakça forcibly were taken into custody and number people came to academicians’ house for solidarity. According to lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı statement, Gülmen and Özakça were sent to ant-terror department after medical examination in Ulus State Hospital.




Kozağaçlı “ We gave them water and sugar but they said if detention period being extended they will stop to receive water and sugar as well.






Meanwhile solidarity with academicians is continuing ,specially after lawyer Kozağaçlı called people for solidarity at Yüksel Street of Ankara. Labor Veli Saçılık who was discharged by decree said they may begin indefinite hunger strike to react detention of academicians.



Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim-Sen) made a written statement after academicians’ detention. “ We request academicians to be released immediately and show sensitivity to their health conditions. We warn government’s authorities for a possible unfavorable situation” stated Eğitim-Sen.
