DİYARBAKIR – Initiative of Free Journalist ( ÖGİ) remarked situation of detained French journalist Mathias Depardon who began a hunger strike and asked from official to release Depardon immediately.

ÖGİ made a press statement on raising pressures over journalist in Diyarbakır Office of Human Rights Association (İHD). Spokesperson of initiative Hakkı Boltan said “ Mr.Depardon was taken into custody while he was travelling to Batman city to follow news. It is impossible to understand that treatments towards foreign journalists. Foreign journalists in Turkey are being deported or jailed because of government aims to block information to European public opinion.”



“ Journalism is not a crime but the crime is arresting journalists. Turkey has became a prison country by power directive. This situation is more disgraceful than infamous crimes. But free press will not silence despite all these blocks” said Boltan.
