DİYARBAKIR – Saadet Balcı (80) resists against demolishing Sur since six days. Balcı insists to not leaving her home and said “ I never seen such a thing in my life.”
Demolishing Sur under the name of “ Urban Transformation” is continuing in Alipaşa and Lalebey Neighborhoods. Residents of Sur are providing their needs such as water from other neighborhoods after government cut off electricity and water since six days.
Residents say they will not their home even they were left without water and electricity.
Hürriyet Dağ who lives in Sur since 40 years said “ They had threated us to demolish our home but they know we will not leave our houses even we were left without water and electricity. The one who knows what Islam is exactly doesn’t do such a thing to people. We are in Ramadan and government left us without water and electricity.”
Dağ says she can’t leave anywhere else after 40 years living in Sur. “ Therefore I will not leave my home” said Dağ.
Hesina Çetinkaya says cutting off electricity and water is cruelty to people. “ I have been living here since 35 years. Any Muslim doesn’t leave people without water, specially in Ramadan” said Çetinkaya and added “ Houses are belonging to us, we have deeds, land is belonging to us but still they are saying ‘leave!’. Where should we suppose to go? I will not go anywhere even if I die here” said Çetinkaya.
Saadet Balcı (80) “ I never seen such a thing in my life. They left us without water and electricity in Ramadan. How can I cook without electricity and water in this age?” said Balcı.
