DİYARBAKIR – ÖGİ released its report of right violations towards journalists in Turkey durin June. According the report, five journalists were taken into custody, four of them were jailed and 24 journalists were judged, 10 of them were fined during June. ÖGİ also marked war policy is implemented towards journalists in Turkey.
Free Journalists Initiative (ÖGİ) released its June report of right violations towards journalists in Turkey. Report was released in Human Rights Association (İHD) Diyarbakır province office. Spokesperson of ÖGİ Hakkı Boltan spoke at the press meeting on behalf of ÖGİ. “ We do prepare report about right violations towards journalists every month” said Boltan.
After Boltan, journalist Ayşe Işık read the report. “ We wished to share positive development about the topic. But unfortunately detentions, punishments, blocks and pressures had increasingly continued this month. Government keep continues to follow war policy towards journalists by using pressure and punishment” said Işık.
Işık told “ Five journalists were taken into custody and four of them were jailed. 24 journalists were judged and 10 of them were fined during June. Also two journalists were attacked during following the news and 20 journalists were discharged from their job.”
It was also reported one journalist was deported from Turkey in June.
